Surrender & sovereignty

1 Minute Read: Surrender, sovereignty, taoism, healing.

Over the past few months, I’ve returned to a practice I’ve kept on-and-off for many years – starting and closing each day with the Tao Te Ching.

I draw from this place throughout the day – both in my work, and in guiding my choices and interactions.

Lately, I’ve been leaning into a chapter of the Tao that ends this way:

"Heaven’s net casts wide.
Though its meshes are coarse,
nothing slips through.”

I’ve been asking the Divine to catch me, please. Coarseness and all.

Surrendering to that which is far greater than myself, even as I continue to take my next healing step, as best I know how, in this moment.

And you?

Where can you surrender? What or who can you surrender to?

I’m NOT talking collapse, mind you, but surrender.

They are wholly different.

How does it feel when you trust your safety net – however coarse?

Balancing surrender and sovereignty, what’s your next step?

What can you – and only you – take responsibility for? What can you choose?

  • In eating?

  • In movement?

  • In relationship?

  • In nourishing your heart?

  • In guiding your choices?

Doesn’t have to be a big thing. Just one next, healing step. As best you know how, for you, in this moment.

If you’d like to share, I’d love to hear in the comments!
