I return to teaching Chinese Medicine soon, with the start of fall semester. So last week I took pause – immersing myself in a few days of self-led retreat in Kitsilano, Vancouver.
Much of this time was spent practicing yoga and walking around neighbourhoods full of flowers and green. Each morning, I’d wake early…and linger a while.
Sitting in a delightful, deeply restful bed taking up most of my tiny Airbnb, I’d read from the Tao, respond to emails, and play on social media before taking a lovely, half-hour walk to yoga.
The light is soft. The window opens to a lush garden with old trees, overgrown plants and trickling water. I’m drinking French press coffee with a spoonful of ghee.
Resting my body. Resting my soul. Resting from desire.
Finding tranquility. Finding calm.
And you? Where can you seek solace today?
What does your tranquility look like?
